SPRING 2026

The Shaw Strategy 2025

(Santiago de Compostela, Spain)

SIBC students will research and present ideas to The Shaw Strategy to help the business maximize revenue and use of one of its new properties near Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Specifically, the client is considering transforming the property into a wedding venue, vineyard, or orchard. The property already has a chapel. Santiago de Compostela is a community rich in culture and Catholic history. The Shaw Strategy is interested in developing the property as a way to share in the culture and Catholic history of the home and Santiago. The SIBC team will visit the property in person in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in August 2025 to discuss project details and then develop the plan/strategy from the Benedictine College campus during the fall 2025 semester. The final presentation to The Shaw Strategy will take place virtually toward the end of the fall semester.

IPE Forum 2025

(San Diego, California)

Our team investigates how societies can leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to promote social good while mitigating potential risks to democratic stability, security, and labor markets. At the macro level, we explore policy options that governments can implement to ensure ethical safeguards, facilitate workforce transitions, and foster public trust in AI technologies. As part of our analysis, we evaluate the AI strategies of two firms, examining their approaches to responsible AI deployment and social impact. We identify strengths and weaknesses in these strategies and propose enhancements to increase their effectiveness in promoting societal benefit while minimizing risks.

Wine Cellar 2026

This project focuses on elevating The Wine Cellar, a locally owned wine bar and event space in downtown Atchison, into a must-visit social destination by increasing awareness, foot traffic, and overall sales. Known for its cozy, welcoming atmosphere and curated selection of Kansas-made wines, high-end whiskeys, and craft martinis, The Wine Cellar already offers a strong foundation as a community hub. Our strategy aims to ensure that both locals and nearby college students recognize what makes the space unique, while introducing new reasons to visit through enhanced social media presence, engaging events, and local partnerships. By showcasing the venue’s inviting ambiance and vibrant experiences, we will position The Wine Cellar as the go-to spot in Atchison for relaxing, connecting, and creating memorable moments.

Sourcing Team 2026

We are proud to have been given the opportunity to serve as the first Sourcing Team for Benedictine’s SIBC. Our goal was to establish a clear mission and guidelines for future sourcing teams, as SIBC hopes to continue this project in future semesters. We created multiple templates and processes for sourcing business clients, planning events, and improving team efficiency. Altogether, the sourcing team plays a significant role in ensuring SIBC can be solely student-run.

Buyside 2026

This year, our BuySide team has been asked to identify, justify, and recommend five growth companies for future investment whose profile aligns with the INVEST Act criteria. These companies should be start-ups, small businesses or emerging growth companies and they should not be from these seven states where most U.S. public companies currently come from: California, NY, Massachusetts, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Washington. Benedictine is tasked with researching the East North Central, East South Central, and West South Central regions (which includes the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana). We are especially considering companies with strong growth potential, financial health and profitability outlook, and competitive advantage and management quality. We will present our research in a forum in San Diego on April 17th, 2026 with the University of Notre Dame and the University of San Diego.
