The team will work with alum Ryan Boh. We will begin with research into cryptocurrency so as to gain or strengthen our understanding of the market. Based on this research, we will provide suggestions for investment in emerging cryptocurrencies. After spending a brief period researching cryptocurrency, we will investigate the hardware required for mining and the costs and benefits associated with mining. We will determine if mining or investing in cryptocurrency is beneficial, taking into account the startup costs, operating costs, market volatility, and cryptocurrency reliability. At the conclusion of the project, the team will have a deeper understanding of cryptocurrency and worthwhile experience working with a team. The client will have a valuable breakdown of the cryptocurrency market, details on the costs and benefits of mining and investing, and insight into a couple of emerging cryptocurrencies worth considering for investment.

Throughout this semester, I deepened my knowledge of the cryptocurrency market. The research was focused around finding trends in the crypto market. By finding common trends in the market, the team and I were able to identify some of the strengths and weaknesses of cryptocurrency. We discovered multiple issues common among all cryptocurrencies which are impeding the growth and success of cryptocurrency—volatility, security, and adoption, just to name a few. The ultimate goal or question we were trying to answer was, what makes a cryptocurrency successful?

Our Cryptocurrency project was broken up into two parts: a Lumiscape and a report covering the overview of crypto. Each team member was responsible for a handful of topics within the report and each member added their own touches to the Lumiscape. Being on this project team allowed me to further develop my knowledge on crypto as well as apply my own experience on the topic. Despite having limited engagement with Ryan Boh, we were able to put together an amazing project that covered the bases and FAQs on cryptocurrency. In addition to all the work put into this project, I was able to connect with my teammates who all have different majors and knowledge on crypto. Being able to pull together and put together this project in a way that was both productive and eventful, it was truly an amazing experience.
