This team will plan, organize, and host international events on campus. This could include activities such as a bake-off with dishes from various cultures, dance lessons, foreign movie nights, international trivia, etc.

I helped organize an Irish Event for St. Patrick's Day. My partner Garin Noll made cornbeef and cabbage, and I rounded up some friends to make mocktails. We found a group of talented students to play Irish music for attendees. We had a decent turnout, and I had a lot of fun. This was my first time setting up any kind of on campus event. The most important thing I learned was management of time and people. There was a lot of communication between the management of our venue and the band, keeping everyone involved up to speed on everything was more challenging than I thought it would be. Playing manager was definitely a learning experience.

For my project this semester I helped organize and host an Irish festival. I believe that this festival was not only educational but also an overall fun event to attend. People that showed up learned about Irish culture through various aspects such as music and food. I myself also learned other things outside of Irish culture such as how to set up and orchestrate together an event. Other business aspects were learned and used throughout the making of this event such as creating flyers and budgeting. I would say that overall this was a great experience and learning opportunity for me.

Hi! I am a sophomore here at Benedictine and this is my first time in SIBC! My project this semester consisted of planning and organizing an Asian event. My teammate, Maddie, and I got to make Asian cuisine and gave examples of origami. This project taught me to appreciate different cultures, advertise by creating flyers, budgeting, and collaboration with teammates. Being a part of the Campus Cultural Events team has been a fun, beneficial experience and all of our hard work has paid off this semester by putting on successful cultural social events throughout campus. This was my first time being apart of SIBC and I am grateful for the experience I gained this semester.

This semester I helped put together an event on campus celebrating Mexican culture and history. Many students outside of SIBC showed up to our “Tacos and Trivia” night to answer some different questions regarding the history of Mexico and important aspects of their culture. I believe that the students enjoyed learning more about Mexico and getting some free tacos. To put on this event we researched Mexican culture, put together flyers, budgeted food, and worked with a team. Being a part of this team has been a beneficial and fun semester. I have seen my work and my teammates' work pay off throughout the semester at the various on campus events. This team was a great way to learn more about SIBC in my first semester and I can’t wait to continue on in future semesters.

Hello! I am Garrett St Clair, I am a Senior at Benedictine. I hosted “Tacos and Trivia” . It was a great turn out. Many students that were not a part of SIBC stopped by to learn and answer questions about Mexican Culture. I believe many students not only enjoyed the aspect of learning more about the culture but also the tacos that were given out. Overall I have really enjoyed SIBC for my first year and will continue to be a part of this class because I see real world benefits to being a part of this in the business.

This was my first time leading a project and it was so rewarding! I learned so much as a person and as a professional. It was so fun to watch each team plan and execute their project, as well as get excited about their plans. I am so sad to be leaving SIBC, but I am also so pleased with the work that our team accomplished this year!
Maddie Garretson
Hi! I am Maddie Garretson and this was the first time I have been a part of SIBC. I had an event that focused on Asian Culture. Growing up, I took Origami classes and it was cool to incorporate that into our event. We did Origami and Asian Cuisine. I learned how to collaborate with my team in order to organize our events. We had to learn how to work with a budget, advertising the event, and working with the campus in order to reserve certain spaces we needed. I loved being a part of this group because it helped me dive deeper into different cultures through different activities. I learned a lot of different facts about each and it was fun trying to spread culture awareness throughout the campus with unique experiences.
