Students will organize an alumni event that will provide networking opportunities for SIBC students. This event will include an alumni panel followed by a networking tailgate on Homecoming Weekend. Alumni will share about how SIBC helps them in their careers, their transitions from academics to the “real world,” and provide insight about their experiences navigating their respective careers.
“For my first semester of SIBC, I contributed to the Alumni Event in ways inside and outside of class. My tasks included emailing alumni, hanging up flyers and researching koozie options for the event. I came up with the koozie idea out of necessity for something memorial to be taken home by those who attended. I gained experience in my communications skills with alumni and in public speaking while having to facilitate a live question panel. I felt that this project was a good ice breaker for me and will have me better prepared for a more tasking project in the future.” - Charley McGlinn
“This semester I was able to lead the Alumni Event project. As my first project to lead I was able to learn how to manage a group with very different schedules. I grew my marketing skills in creating the promotional flyers and the brochure for the event. Additionally, I grew my skills in networking as I reached out to many of the alumni to invite them to the event and get their information to put into the brochure.” - Marissa Mantz
